Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, or IDEA, we serve as primary managers of Individualized Education Programs. This means collecting accurate assessment data, writing measurable goals, and rigorously tracking progress through data collection to adapt strategies when a student needs extra support. We also bridge the gap between core content and individual needs through differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to ensure students access the general education curriculum. Beyond classroom teaching, we collaborate continuously with general education teachers, families, and administrators to build an inclusive environment where legal compliance, ethical conduct, and student equity remain the top priority. My roles and responsibilities are IEP Management & Compliance: Developing, implementing, and annually reviewing Individualized Education Programs under IDEA, I will apply instructional Adaptation by Delivering Specially Designed Instruction (SDI), differentiated instruction, accommodations, and modifications to grant access to the general education curriculum, I will use terms familiar with all stakeholders, and stay away from unknown phrases and acronyms, for all stakeholders have understanding and are not overwhelmed by the Special education terms, I will ensure there is Data & Progress Monitoring by Collecting ongoing assessment data and monitor student growth, refine instructional strategies, and maintain detailed documentation to support students every step of the way, and I will ensure Collaboration & Advocacy. This will be done by facilitating communication between families, general educators, service providers, and administrative teams to support the student's unique needs so they can succeed academically and thrive socially and emotionally.
